Arsenal’s academy has produced some wonderful talents in recent years, and there are plenty more who will surely make the breakthrough in the next few years.
Already we have Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe shining in the first team, and it shouldn’t be long before the likes of Miguel Azeez, Catalin Cirjan, Nikolaj Moller etc will be in contention too.
Now, Hale End winger Joel Ideho has outlined his intention to make his senior Arsenal debut “as soon as possible” and has his eyes on a first-team breakthrough.
The Dutch-born Nigerian 17-year-old swapped Ajax’s academy for the Gunners setup last year amid reported interest from Southampton.
Ideho, who has drawn comparisons with Crystal Palace and Ivory Coast star Wilfried Zaha, scored a sensational goal in the UEFA Youth League last year, lobbing the ball over Midtjylland’s goalkeeper from distance.
He has played for both Arsenal’s Under-18s and Under-23s, opening his account with the former in last week’s defeat to Norwich’s U18s.
“The football in the Netherlands is more technical then over here, here is more intense and more running,” Ideho told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“My target is to make my debut as soon as possible and be a first team player.”
