Ethan Nwaneri is one of the shining stars of the Arsenal academy, touted for big things in the near future at the club.

The youngster was on the radar of supporters at a young age, with Mikel Arteta bringing him into the first team fold at just 15 years old.

Since then, Arsenal fans have grown accustomed to seeing Nwaneri involved in first-team squads, with several appearances across different competitions.

Ethan Nwaneri’s age

Nwaneri was born on March 21, 2007, which makes him just 17 years old at the time of writing and still at the beginning of his professional career.

The youngster was born in Enfield, a town in north London which is roughly eight miles away from the Emirates Stadium.

Ethan Nwaneri’s height

In terms of his height, Nwaneri comes in at 1.76 metres – or roughly five feet and nine inches tall in total – which makes him roughly average height.

What position does Ethan Nwaneri play?

Coming through the academy ranks, Nwaneri has often played as an attacking midfielder for the under-18s and under-21s.

The 17-year-old is versatile though, capable of playing as a winger on the right flank or even as a striker if required.

Nwaneri holds dual citizenship, with both England and Nigeria options for the youngster on the international stage.

The attacking midfielder could represent Nigeria’s national team through his parents, though so far he has played for England in the youth ranks.

Ethan Nwaneri’s wage, salary and contract

Just days after turning 17, Nwaneri signed a professional contract at Arsenal in March 2024, which secured his future at the club.

Current wage and salary figures are unknown, though Football Insider have claimed that the deal is “record-breaking” in being the most ever paid to an academy star.

Ethan Nwaneri’s debut and record

Arteta sent shockwaves through football when deciding to name Nwaneri on the bench for his side’s Premier League clash with Brentford back in September 2022.

He was handed his debut in the same game, coming on for Fabio Vieira in stoppage time to help Arsenal win the match.

At just 15 years and 181 days old, Nwaneri broke the record for the youngest ever player to play in the top division of English football – spanning both the Premier League and the old First Division.

That also broke Cesc Fabregas’ record of being the youngest-ever Arsenal player – he was 16 years and 177 days old in the 2003/2004 season when making his debut.
