Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes the signing of Pedro Neto would be good news for Bukayo Saka.
According to Football Transfers, Arsenal are keen to sign Wolves winger Pedro Neto in the upcoming January transfer window.
The 23-year-old’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium would mean that there is finally some genuine competition and back up available for Bukayo Saka.
Mikel Arteta is understandably hugely reliant on Saka. The 22-year-old is one of the Gunners’ star players, and has the potential to make a huge mark on the history of the club. However, there are concerns that the 30-cap England star is overplayed.
Saka is currently dealing with a fitness issue, which saw him sit out the recent win against Manchester City. This injury is a warning shot that Arteta must heed – Saka needs a rest every now and then.
One of the issues facing the manager, aside from Saka’s supreme quality making him hard to leave out, is that there is not another left-footed right winger at the club.
As a left-footer Neto has a similar style of play to Saka. He is tricky, rapid, and direct. He loves to drive at opponents with the ball at his feet, is a creative force, and is also willing to help out defensively.

How Neto can help Saka
As cover for Saka, the five-cap Portugal international represents an excellent like-for-like option. The pressure of his presence could also inspire Saka to greater heights, as well as allowing for him to be rested on occasion.
Kevin Campbell is certainly excited by the prospect of having both players at the club. Speaking to The Highbury Squad, he said, “he [Neto] can switch with Saka. One minute he is on the bench and the next minute he is starting the next game. I think he could be the perfect foil for Saka.”
With all this in mind, it has to be questioned if Neto would be willing to come to Arsenal to take up what is likely to be strictly a rotational role. Perhaps the Wolves ace backs himself to usurp Saka in the pecking order.
