Arsenal are reportedly lining up a move for Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey.
According to The Mirror, the Gunners are considering a swoop for the Englishman, with Barcelona supposedly keen on Hector Bellerin.
Specifically, it’s Joan Laporta who wants Bellerin. He is the favourite to become the Spanish giants’ new club president.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
It seems Arsenal are therefore preparing for life without the 25-year-old, with Lamptey on their transfer radar.
The 20-year-old signed permanently for the Seagulls in the summer from Chelsea, and has been a breath of fresh air at the Amex.
Lamptey has caught the eye with his electric pace, which allows him to bomb forward and support in the final third, but also get back into position and defend.
He may be short in stature, but Lamptey has been providing a pretty formidable opponent for a lot of Premier League wingers.
There is no word in the report about potential cost, but Lamptey is under contract until 2023 meaning Brighton are in a healthy position.
He’s also English and naturally that comes with a slightly inflate price tag.
Lamptey would be a coup for Arsenal
£35,000-a-week star Lamptey (Spotrac) is one of the most exciting young players in the Premier League right now, regardless of position.
He’d be a fantastic signing for the Gunners and someone who could potentially develop into a top player in the future.
Bellerin is struggling right now, and Lamptey could be a fine replacement.
