Arsenal picked up a hard-fought victory over West Ham United yesterday and ex-Gunner Alexis Sanchez, surprisingly, showed some love to his former side on Instagram.
Mikel Arteta took his lads to the London Stadium to take on a Hammers side who had one eye on their Europa League semi-final. However, it was us who looked exhausted in the game yesterday.
Arsenal just couldn’t get going. We were extremely sloppy and struggled to even pull off simple passes at times. Thankfully, our two centre-halves – Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes – stepped up and fired us to a very important victory.

Alexis Sanchez applauds Arsenal on Instagram
The Chilean was a fan favourite when he was here. He was absolutely incredible for Arsenal during his three-and-a-half years at the Emirates, scoring 80 goals and provided 45 assists in 166 appearances.
He could’ve gone down as a legend of the club had he stayed, but he chose to join Manchester United on astronomical wages instead.

Sanchez’s career has gone downhill ever since he left Arsenal. He’s not fondly remembered by Gooners either, but it looks like he still has some love for us.
The now 33-year-old responded to Granit Xhaka’s post about Arsenal’s win on Instagram yesterday. “Gunners,” he wrote followed by a couple of clapping emojis and a football emoji.

Alexis Sanchez’s record since leaving Arsenal
Sanchez’s spell at Manchester United was a truly disastrous one. In 45 games for the Red Devils, he scored just five goals, which is incomparable to his stunning record at Arsenal.
The Chilean joined Inter Milan on loan in 2019 and that move was made permanent in the following year.
Sanchez’s numbers at the San Siro are slightly better than what it was at Old Trafford, but it’s still nowhere near good enough for a player as talented as him. In 106 appearances for the Nerazzurri, Sanchez has managed to score 19 goals and provide 23 assists.
This could well be a reminder to everyone that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
