Arsenal legend Ray Parlour spoke on TalkSport this morning (07:25 am) about the one player his former club should sign after completing a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion star Ben White.
The Gunners are reportedly close to sealing a deal for the England defender, who had a stunning campaign last season. He will fit in very well at Arsenal, but we need to strengthen other areas of the pitch as well.
Arsenal will need at least one new central midfielder this summer, if not two. We’ve been linked with plenty of names already, but Parlour has told Arteta and Edu exactly who they should be looking to sign after White come in.
Ray Parlour: Arsenal should sign Yves Bissouma
The Romford Pele said: “(Yves) Bissouma will be superb. I think he is efficient, he has got lots of energy, he’s good on the ball, he is young enough for Arsenal to get four years out of him.”
Bissouma has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for over six months now and fans would absolutely love him. Many feel that he is the perfect partner for Thomas Partey in the middle of our park, and he will not cost an outrageous fee either.
The Mali international is set to be available for a fee in the region of £30 million. (Daily Star) That is very affordable for Arsenal in this window, especially if the rumours about our £250 million transfer war chest are true.
The Insider’s View:
Parlour’s right, Bissouma would be brilliant for Arsenal. He’s still only 24, he is proven in the Premier League, and he was one of the best players in the English top-flight last season.
Bissouma’s arrival could also bring the best out of Partey. The Ghanaian will have more freedom to drive into the opposition third and have an impact there – something that wasn’t really possible when he had Granit Xhaka or Dani Ceballos next to him.

The Brighton midfielder really does check all the boxes and if reports are to be believed, he would love to join Arsenal as well. However, White is the transfer priority at the moment and no move for Bissouma will happen until a deal for his Seagulls teammate is completed.
