Unai Emery has the last laugh as his Villarreal side knock Arsenal out of the Europa League.

The Spaniard replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates in 2018 but was sacked just 16 months after he was appointed. He was given the chance to get his revenge on us, and he took it.

Emery’s Villarreal were the better side over 180 minutes and they deserved to beat us. The former Arsenal boss gets one over Mikel Arteta, and as he has always been, he has remained classy despite getting his revenge.

The 49-year-old took to Twitter to acknowledge his club’s fans. He thanked them for their support and added a seven-word message in the end to Arsenal as well, wishing us all the luck for the future.

That really is classy from Emery. He has been mocked by Arsenal supporters for a couple of years now and he could’ve easily aimed a dig at all of us after getting his revenge. He remained classy, so more power to him.

Emery and his men completely deserved to beat Arsenal over two legs and reach the final. He showed why he’s the most successful manager in the history of the competition, and we can only wish him well as he aims to lift his fourth Europa League trophy in a few weeks time.

The former Arsenal boss took the high road after the game, but his club went the opposite way. Villarreal’s official Twitter handle chose to mock the Gunners with an iconic Unai Emery phrase, and we can’t really blame them, can we?
