The Gunners signed Saliba from Saint-Etienne three years ago, but he never even got close to playing in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta was adamant that he wasnβt ready for the last two seasons, and he was sent out on loan as a result.
Following his return to pre-season this summer, Arteta changed his mind. The Spaniard fully trusts Saliba now, and his faith was repaid with a truly magnificent performance against Crystal Palace on the opening day.

However, van Dijk had an afternoon to forget yesterday. Aleksandar Mitrovic was a constant threat to Liverpoolβs defence, and his skill on the ball forced the best defender in the world to make a mistake that he usually wouldnβt.
Van Dijk conceded a penalty and Mitrovic scored from the spot. Liverpool could only manage a draw in the end as a result.
