The Italian bossed the game against Switzerland yesterday and scored twice to give his side their second win in the competition. Locatelli was absolutely outstanding last night, and even though we love Granit Xhaka more than most people, the difference in quality between the two players was overly evident.
Apart from his two goals, Locatelli had 57 touches of the ball, made one key pass and maintained a very impressive 90% passing accuracy. He completed a tackle, two interceptions and was dribbled past just once in the entire game. (SofaScore)
The Italian has been a real star in the Serie A for a couple of years now. He is almost guaranteed to leave Sassuolo this summer and after his performance last night, he will become a top target to plenty of clubs.
Arsenal, along with a ton of other sides, have been linked with a move for Locatelli over the last few weeks. Gazzetta dello Sport even claimed that the Gunners are preparing a £34.2 million bid for him, and that excited almost every supporter on the planet.
Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that Sassuolo are ready to part ways with him for that exact figure, but clubs like Juventus and other top sides in England are all keen to get him in the coming weeks.
If it was up to Arsenal fans, we’d get him right away. He has all the qualities to thrive in the middle of our park, and with Xhaka set to leave in the coming days, there really isn’t a better replacement available than Locatelli.
