Thierry Henry is Arsenal’s greatest ever player and that will not change any time soon, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is making a nice name for himself in the Gunners’ record books.
After a year mostly filled with lows, Auba silenced a few of his doubters with an impressive hat-trick against West Brom on Wednesday. Yes, scoring against an inexperienced Baggies side isn’t the greatest achievement, but he had to deliver and he did just that.
The game at the Hawthorns was Aubameyang’s 150th appearance for Arsenal in all competitions. Despite a woeful campaign last time out, his numbers are absolutely phenomenal, even when compared to Henry.
Aubameyang vs Thierry Henry after 150 Arsenal games
Wednesday’s hat-trick took Aubameyang to 88 goals in 150 games for Arsenal in all competitions. That is truly a stunning record, especially when you consider how difficult last season was for him.
Auba ranks ninth on the list of players with the most goals for Arsenal in their first 150 games. He’s behind the likes of Ted Drake and Ian Wright, but to many people’s surprise, his numbers rank higher than Henry’s.
The King, in his first 150 games for Arsenal, managed to score 80 goals – eight less than Auba. That’s still a phenomenal record, but this just shows how underrated the current Gunners skipper is at the moment.
Another surprise name on the list is Alexis Sanchez, who scored 73 times in his first 150 games. The Chilean could well have gone down as a club legend, but he decided to ruin his career by switching to Old Trafford.
Arsenal fans are stunned by Aubameyang’s stats after 150 games. Many are surprised that he boasts better numbers than Henry, who is still the greatest ever in many people’s eyes.
