Mikel Arteta handed some minutes to a number of Arsenal youngsters against Hibernian on Tuesday and 17-year-old Omari Hutchinson caught a few fans’ attention.
The teenager has been at Arsenal since he was 11 and has progressed through the age groups. Everyone who follows the academy knows that he has a bright future ahead of him, and he showed some of his skills in training today.
The Arsenal squad were practising free-kicks in the pre-season camp in Scotland and Hutchinson scored four outstanding goals. Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is heard in the background saying: “Well done, this is how we do.”
Omari Hutchinson can be a future Arsenal star
Hutchinson burst onto the scene in the under-18 Premier League for Arsenal last season and he had a sensational campaign. The teenager scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 19 starts – a truly incredible record.
Apart from his quality on the ball, Hutchinson is hugely versatile as well. He can play on both flanks, in attacking midfield, as a number eight and even at left-back as he showed on Tuesday when he replaced Sead Kolasinac.
Arteta has already shown that he isn’t afraid to give young players a chance if they show him some good things in training. Hutchinson certainly seems to be impressing in the pre-season tour, and he could well be given some minutes against Rangers tomorrow.
Arsenal fans, predictably, were blown away by the teenager’s technique. Here’s how a few Gooners reacted to the video on Twitter…
