After a 41-goal and 12-assist season, it didn’t look like Erling Haaland could be stopped. However, Arsenal defender Konstantinos ‘Dinos’ Mavropanos had other ideas when Greece faced Norway last night.
Haaland and his pal Martin Odegaard started for the Løvene yesterday but they weren’t great. Giorgos Masouras and Thanasis Androutsos scored for the Greeks in the first 21 minutes of the game, putting Norway on the back foot.
Stefan Strandberg’s strike in the 64th minute gave The Lions some hope, but it wasn’t enough. Norway maintained the majority of the possession and had 12 shots at goal – twice as many as Greece – but the Galanolefki protected their lead resiliently, all thanks to Mavropanos.

The Arsenal man was absolutely outstanding last night. He has had a stunning season out on loan in Germany with Stuttgart, and it looks like he is ready to make a name for himself on the global stage as well.
The Mavropanos vs Haaland battle was always going to be interesting. The Dortmund superstar failed to get the better of the brilliant Arsenal man when they faced each other in the Bundesliga earlier this year.
Unfortunately for him, he failed again last night. Mavropanos has got another one over the Norwegian superstar, and it is safe to say, Arsenal fans were truly wowed by him after his performance in Malaga last night.
