Arsenal announced the signing of Albert Sambi Lokonga from Belgian side Anderlecht today and Gooners have already fallen in love with the midfielder.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old for over a month. We’ve all known for a couple of weeks that he will join us, but it’s finally official now and Arsenal supporters can’t wait to see him in action.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

In his first interview as an Arsenal player, Lokonga was asked about his reaction to Edu and Mikel Arteta’s interest in him. He revealed that he didn’t hesitate for one second and was ready to leave his boyhood club for North London almost immediately.

Lokonga: I didn’t hesitate for one second to join Arsenal

He told Arsenal.com: “I heard about this, I think two games I had a hand with the president of the club. He told me about the interest of Arsenal. My lawyer also told me about the interest of Arsenal and I didn’t hesitate one second. I told them that yeah, excuse me, but I will go there!”

“It’s a big step, but I feel confident because we have to. In the football world, you have to feel confident about yourself, but I’m looking to play in this league and I can’t wait to start the league.

“I prefer people to judge me. I don’t like to speak about myself. But, I can’t wait to be at the stadium, to be with my teammates, to play in Emirates Stadium. I can’t wait.”

Arteta has always said that he doesn’t like convincing players to join the club. He prefers people who want to play for Arsenal, and it looks like Lokonga checked that box as soon as the Gunners approached to sign him.
