Inter Milan superstar Lautaro Martinez has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, but Chelsea’s move for Romelu Lukaku could crush the Gunners’ dream of signing the Argentine this summer.
Mikel Arteta and Edu are on the lookout for a new striker. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have both entered the final year of their contracts, and Arsenal are trying really hard to cash in on them.
If a deal can be struck to sell the two strikers in the coming weeks, Arsenal are set to make a move for Martinez. (The Athletic) However, Chelsea’s latest transfer pursuit could end any hope Arteta has of securing the Argentine’s signature this summer.

Chelsea signing Lukaku will crush Arsenal’s Lautaro Martinez dream
Sky Sports revealed today that Chelsea have had two offers rejected by Inter Milan for Lukaku in recent days. The second bid was a staggering £85 million plus Marcus Alonso, but the Nerazzurri turned that down.
However, it is widely expected that the Blues will go back in with a third offer for the Belgian, who they let go in 2014. The report claims that a bid of around £102 million could convince Inter to sell Lukaku, and it’s really not beyond Chelsea to table that.
The 28-year-old would be a sensational signing for the Blues. He will arguably make them real contenders for the Premier League title next season, but Thomas Tuchel signing him makes Arsenal’s move for Martinez almost impossible.

The only reason Inter would even consider selling Martinez is to get out of the financial hole they’re currently in. That will no longer be an issue if they make over £100 million on Lukaku, which would make it a real blow for Arsenal.
Martinez would be a brilliant addition to our squad. He’s young, quick, can hold the ball up and is a clinical finisher. He’s rated very highly by almost everyone in the game, including Lionel Messi, who thinks his compatriot is ‘spectacular‘.

Arsenal already had a mountain to climb to get a deal for Martinez over the line. With Chelsea now pushing real hard to sign the Argentine’s strike partner, our chances look slimmer, and it may soon become impossible.
