Remember when Arsene Wenger almost signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon? The Portuguese superstar could have helped us become one of the best teams in the world, but sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.
Ronaldo joined Manchester United instead and went on to become one of the best players in the history of the game. He is now playing his trade at Juventus, and the 35-year-old still looks better than almost every attacker in the world.
Arsenal could well do with Ronaldo at the moment. He would instantly solve our goalscoring woes, but there is no way that will happen. However, he could do a massive favour to Mikel Arteta in the January transfer window.
TuttoSport revealed recently that Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is in talks with Juventus over a January move. The German has no future at Arsenal and his agent is trying his best to get him a move to a top club elsewhere.
The report claims that Arsenal are also pushing for this move to happen. Mikel Arteta’s side are prepared to pay half of Ozil’s humongous salary if Juventus agree to sign him in January.
That makes him extremely affordable to any big club, let alone the champions of Italy.
Ronaldo can help Arteta save millions next month
Juventus don’t really need more creativity in their squad as they already have the likes of Paulo Dybala, Aaron Ramsey and Federico Chiesa in their squad. However. a recommendation from Ronaldo to sign his former Real Madrid teammate should do the trick next month.
“Mesut has made me better. Ozil is fantastic. He can read the game and knows when he needs to play the pass, when he should take a dribble – that’s simply class. We have a really good connection and this is still getting better. I love to play with him, he is fantastic,” Ronaldo said about Ozil in 2011. (Goal)
Ozil and Ronaldo had an incredible connection at Real Madrid. The Portuguese superstar could push Juventus to sign him next month, and if he does, Arsenal will save millions in wages even if we have to pay half of the German’s salary.
