He once had a bust-up with Eddie Nketiah, now he could crush Arsenal’s Champions League dreams

Arsenal’s most realistic chance of silverware this season is the Champions League.

The Gunners started the campaign as one of the favourites to win the Premier League title, but a combination of injuries to key players and multiple poor refereeing decisions have cost them.

Liverpool now have a 12-point lead at the top of the table with just nine games left. Unless they have a monumental collapse, they will win the title.

With the two domestic cups out of the way, the Champions League is where Arsenal’s focus should be, but a former Gunner could end their hopes in that competition.

Dani Ceballos had a bust-up with Eddie Nketiah when he was at Arsenal

Dani Ceballos spent two seasons on loan at Arsenal from Real Madrid.

The Spaniard impressed in his first campaign as a Gunner. He played a big part in helping Mikel Arteta win the FA Cup in the summer of 2020.

Arteta brought him back for a second year, and even though Ceballos wasn’t awful by any means, that move didn’t work out as well as he would’ve liked.

Before the very first game of that campaign against Fulham, during warm-up at Craven Cottage, Ceballos had a bit of a bust-up with former Gunner Eddie Nketiah.

During a game of rondo, the Spaniard clashed with the English striker – not once, but twice – and the two of them had to be separated.

Arsenal went on to beat Fulham comfortably in that game, and both Ceballos and Nketiah came off the bench as substitutes.

After the game, the two players made up, with Ceballos posting a picture of them together with the caption: “No problems here. My brother!”

Ceballos could end Arsenal’s Champions League dreams

Ceballos is still a Real Madrid player, and he has played 30 games for the Galacticos in all competitions so far this season.

However, in the last week of February, the midfielder suffered a knee injury, and the initial assessment suggested that he would be out of action for a minimum of two months.

That meant at the time that Ceballos would miss the quarter-finals of the Champions League between Real Madrid and Arsenal, but the Spaniard was not going to let that happen.

Sport have revealed that Ceballos has been recovering quicker than expected, and there is a chance now that he will be fit for the first-leg against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Ceballos came under a fair bit of criticism in his second season at Arsenal. We’re sure he would love to prove a point to those people by ending the Gunners’ Champions League dreams in the quarter-finals.
