According to a report from Sport Bild, Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac is close to signing for Bayer Leverkusen. The Bosnian international has fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta, and he expected to move on before the end of this week.

Kolasinac joined us on a free transfer from Schalke in the summer of 2017. Arsenal were forced to pay him a big salary then, and that has been a cause for concern for us over the last few months due to the financial impact of the pandemic.

The Bosnian’s performances haven’t been at his personal best over the last few months. He had a good spell as a left-sided centre-back for a few games, but that came to a disappointing end after his error against Tottenham in the North London derby.

It has been widely reported that Arsenal are open to selling a few of their players to raise funds in this window. Kolasinac is one of them and if reports are to be believed, Edu has negotiated a deal with Bayer Leverkusen that would potentially make us the big winners.

Edu’s masterclass

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal will make over £10 million plus potential add-ons from the sale of the Bosnian. That is an extraordinary deal for the Gunners considering that Kolasinac’s form hasn’t been the greatest recently.

Many felt that Arsenal would struggle to move him on this summer due to his huge salary, but Edu and co deserve a ton of credit for sealing such a lucrative deal. That money will now allow us to pursue our other targets, namely Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey.
