According to a report from Libertad Digital, Arsenal are interested in signing Thomas Partey in the summer.
The Ghanian midfielder is one of Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone’s best players over the last few years. Partey would be a phenomenal signing to most clubs in the world but do Arsenal really have a chance?
Partey is said to have a £42 million release clause in his contract which can be triggered in the summer. For a player of his calibre, that is a relatively low fee and Arsenal should move quickly if Arteta is actually interested.

Partey has played over 170 times for Atleti and he has been one of La Liga’s best midfielders. His high-energy, no-nonsense style has made him one of Simeone’s first names on the team sheet and that is unlikely to change irrespective of who he plays for next season.
Reports have claimed that Mikel Arteta is on the lookout for a box-to-box midfielder. Dani Ceballos’ future is still up in the air while Matteo Guendouzi’s disciplinary issues has seen him fall in the pecking order.
Partey is naturally a defensive midfielder but he is capable of playing higher up. His powerful runs forward are a nightmare for the opposition to deal with and with a little improvement, he could well be Arsenal’s own Yaya Toure.

Arsenal fans were unsurprisingly excited about the rumour and would love for the move to happen.
