If someone had told you at the start of the season that Shkodran Mustafi would be Arsenal’s best defender in six months time, you would have laughed at his/her face.
Unai Emery made it clear in the summer that the German had no future at Arsenal. Mustafi has been the subject of constant criticism and ridicule for his mistakes on the pitch but things have quickly changed.
The former Valencia man has started each of Arsenal’s last four games in all competitions. His performances, bar that mistake against Chelsea, has been flawless and Gunners fans seem to have taken note of that.
Mustafi took to Twitter after Sunday’s game against Burnley to express his disappointment. The replies would usually have been criticism but there was nothing but support which is a brilliant sign.
There are no easy matches in the @premierleague , but today was a really difficult game and no breakthrough in Burnley ❌ Disappointed with the result ⛔ Let's recharge our batteries now 🔋 and get back on the right track 👊🏻 #SM20 pic.twitter.com/AHudpoS8eZ

Mikel Arteta’s arrival has certainly brought the fans together. Granit Xhaka too has been forgiven but the biggest surprise is definitely the change of opinion on Mustafi.
The German international is a confidence player. His best performances for us have come when he has had the complete support of Arsenal fans. Mustafi started off his Gunners career with an incredible 22-match unbeaten run and him in full confidence could bring that back.
The replies to his tweet will certainly bring a smile to your face and hopefully, the same for him as well. Here are a few:
Great game from you bro. You were top class and defended well. Keep up the good work.

A genuinely faultless performance from you. Thought you showed more composure than anyone else.
