CIES Football Observatory released their biannual list of Europe’s most valuable players this week.
A specially designed algorithm developed by the observatory ranks players’ transfer values based on their age, performances and the length of their contracts among other things.
Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford claimed the top spot with a stunning valuation of £150 million. Erling Haaland, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bruno Fernandes and Kylian Mbappe make up the top five, while seven other Premier League stars feature in the top 15.
Outstanding Saka worth over £100 million
The surprise inclusion in 15th place is Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka. The teenager is valued at a staggering £105.6 million. That is more than established Premier League stars like Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Kevin de Bruyne and Paul Pogba.
Bernd Leno labelled Saka as ‘an outstanding player’ this year and there is absolutely no doubt about that. (Goal) His quality in attack makes him one of the best prospects in the world on its own, but his versatility on the pitch makes him even more valuable.
Mikel Arteta, Edu and co deserve a ton of praise for tying him down to a new deal. Saka was nearing the end of his contract and he was heavily linked with a move away to some of the best clubs in the world, including Premier League champions Liverpool.
Everyone associated with the club will clearly be proud of how highly the youngster is rated. 15th most valuable footballer in the world is some feat, especially for someone who nobody had heard three years ago.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that talks of a transfer regarding Saka will never come up. An academy graduate making it at the top level and becoming one of the best players in the world is a joy to all of us, and hopefully he stays at the Emirates for a long, long time.
However, if things turn sour in the future, we can be assured over the fact that Saka will potentially make us over £100 million – unless our contract chiefs complicate things like they have in the past with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and Robin van Persie.
