Stunning goal, hat-trick of assists and a 10/10 rating: £40m Arsenal target was on fire last night

As Arsenal were recovering from their 3-0 drubbing against Liverpool, one of the Gunners’ top summer targets set the stage on fire with a brilliant performance last night.

Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia was a star as his side battered Huddersfield Town 7-0 in the Championship. Teemu Pukki’s hat-trick will get most of the plaudits, but the Argentine deserves more credit.

Buendia picked up three assists, scored an absolute stunner from outside the box, rattled the crossbar once and was named as the man of the match in what was a truly outstanding performance last night.

WhoScored even gave the winger a perfect 10/10 rating for his display – that doesn’t happen often.

Last night’s numbers take Buendia to 12 goals and a stunning 16 assists in the Championship this season.

That is a remarkable return for a wide player and it is almost guaranteed that he will leave the Canaries for a bigger club this summer – even if Norwich return to the Premier League.

The Insider’s View:

Martin Odegaard’s heroics in an Arsenal shirt have made people forget about our previous interest in Buendia. The Norwegian will undoubtedly be a priority for us this summer, but don’t be surprised if Mikel Arteta tries to sign the Norwich man as well.

The Independent reported back in January that the Canaries will be looking for a fee in the region of £40 million. People felt that could be beyond Arsenal’s reach, but Buendia’s incredible numbers this term could drive the price up even higher.

Norwich are 12 points clear at the top of the Championship. They are almost guaranteed to return to the Premier League next term and that will make things even more difficult for Arsenal – but if we really want him, we should be able to get him.
