Thierry Henry raved about one player when Arsenal beat PSG last time but he may not even start in the semi-finals

Arsenal are set to face PSG for the second time in the Champions League this season.

Mikel Arteta and Luis Enrique went head to head at the Emirates Stadium during the league phase of the competition back in October, and the Gunners won that game comfortably.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring for Arsenal in the first half before Bukayo Saka scored an accidental free-kick to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.

The North Londoners played out the game without any further risks, and PSG couldn’t get anywhere near them that night.

Thierry Henry was very impressed with one Arsenal player after watching his performance against the Parisiens.

What Thierry Henry said about Leandro Trossard after Arsenal beat PSG

Leandro Trossard hasn’t been a regular starter of late for Arsenal.

Arteta has preferred Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka on the wings with Mikel Merino, who has been a revelation up top, leading the line.

However, back in October when Arsenal faced PSG, Trossard started with Havertz in attack as Martin Odegaard was injured at the time.

The Belgium international picked up a fantastic assist for Havertz’s goal. He drove with the ball from Arsenal’s own half, sat a PSG player down with some brilliant skill and then found the former Chelsea man in the box.

It was a fine move and a great goal, and after the game, Henry made sure to praise Trossard for his delivery into the box.

“Great work from Leandro Trossard,” said Henry on CBS Sports.

“You are going to see the usual run of Kai Havertz. Bukayo Saka is on the second post. Kai Havertz reads it well. What a delivery from Trossard and Havertz gets in the way before Donnarumma.”

Micah Richards then praised Havertz by saying: “Just look at the run in there, the way he is slowing up, then he goes quicker and slows up again for the timing. The ball was perfect.”

Henry then said: “Trossard saw that, he couldn’t go too early or he would have been offside, so he timed his run and he does that ever so well. He scored a very similar goal against Wolves at the beginning of the season.”

Leandro Trossard is unlikely to start for Arsenal vs PSG

Arteta named the exact same lineup when Arsenal took on Real Madrid over two legs in the quarter-finals.

Gabriel Martinelli and Saka started on either side of Mikel Merino, and Trossard came on for the final 16 and 13 minutes respectively in the first and second legs.

The Belgian has since scored a fantastic brace against Ipswich Town in the Premier League, but we don’t expect Arteta to give him a start against PSG.

Arsenal have a good balance with Saka, Merino and Martinelli in attack, and all three of them are in form right now. There is no need to break that partnership.

Trossard will likely have to settle for a role as a substitute, but he has shown several times already that he is capable of having an impact when he comes on.
