Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
The legendary Frenchman dominated the Premier League during his time as a Gunner and is regarded by many as the competition’s best-ever player.
Ronaldo Nazario is perhaps the only number nine who can be regarded as a better striker than Henry in this century, but Thomas Muller has disagreed.
The German has claimed that the Arsenal icon stands ‘no chance’ against one of his former teammates.
Thomas Muller says Robert Lewandowski is better than Thierry Henry
Robert Lewandowski is a world-class striker.
The Pole was magnificent during his time in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, and he has been fantastic for Barcelona as well.
Lewandowski should’ve even won the Ballon d’Or a few years ago, but like Henry in 2003, he was controversially overlooked.
Now, Muller, who played several years with the Poland international in Germany, has made a very controversial claim.
In a video on Goal, the Bayern Munich and Germany legend was asked to choose between Lewandowski and Henry, and he picked the former.
“I admire Thierry Henry a lot. He was very elegant and also very, very good,” Muller said.
“But, against Lewa? No chance!”
Arsene Wenger admitted he tried to sign Robert Lewandowski for Arsenal
Lewandowski was already one of the best strikers in the world when he was at Borussia Dortmund.
Towards the end of his time there, it became clear that the Pole was going to leave on a free transfer, and several big clubs wanted him.
Arsenal, under Arsene Wenger, were keen too, and the legendary French manager even admitted that in 2014. But, he found out that Bayern had wrapped up the deal 18 months before Lewandowski actually became a free agent.
Wenger said in January 2014, as per the Daily Mail: “Yes, we looked into Lewandowski, but honestly, he signed for Bayern one and a half years ago, everyone knows that.
‘They can only make it official now because he is in the last six months of his contract.”
