The worst thing that could’ve possibly happened to Arsenal this season has just happened. Unai Emery has knocked us out of the Europa League and as difficult as it is to say, we got what we deserved tonight.
This was Arsenal’s biggest game of the season, possibly the biggest game in over a decade. Sadly, Mikel Arteta forgot to mention that to his players who played the first half like it was a pre-season friendly.
There was no intensity, no desire and no will to win. Villarreal weren’t great over the two legs, but they were miles better than us. Emery gets his revenge after the Kroenkes sacked him 18 months ago, and it’s now time for our owners to answer some serious questions.
Keep the club or sell to Daniel Ek?
Arsenal fans have made it absolutely clear over the last few weeks – we want Kroenke out. Daniel Ek has publicly claimed that he is ready to buy our football club, but Silent Stan and KSE’s stance has been firm.
The only way fans would’ve been appeased was if we went on and won the Europa League this season. That will not happen now, which is bad news for the Kroenkes, who now know that the protests will only get bigger.
It’s now time for them to ask one big question – stay and improve the club or sell and walk away? Arsenal fans already know what we want.
Arteta in or Arteta out?
If the Kroenkes decide against selling Arsenal, they will have to be a lot more interested in on-field matters than they have been over the years.
Mikel Arteta has just seen his players go out and completely embarrass themselves. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the manager, and it’s up to the Kroenkes to decide whether to keep him or send him on his way.
If they do decide to stick with Arteta, they need to back him more than they’ve ever backed any manager before.
Summer transfer window
Arteta or someone else – it doesn’t matter who will be at the helm at Arsenal this summer. The Kroenkes need to ask themselves if they are really willing to back the manager – not with words, but with a lot of cash.
Arsenal need to strengthen the squad in multiple areas of the pitch. That will cost an awful amount of money this summer – something that we probably won’t have considering that we may not have European football next season.
If they stay, the Kroenkes have to open their wallets. They need to pump in some serious money to help rebuild this Arsenal squad. If they aren’t willing to do that, they better sell up and walk away.
