Three things Mikel Arteta needs to work on in the training camp in Dubai

Mikel Arteta’s schedule since being appointed as Arsenal boss has been hectic. The Spaniard and his squad head to Dubai for some warm weather training and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

Arsenal certainly look much better under Arteta than we did under Emery and Ljungberg. However, the performances have not reflected in the results and that needs to change as quickly as possible.

Here are three things Arteta needs to work on in Dubai in the next few days:

Solve the Lacazette conundrum:

The Frenchman’s work-rate has been nothing short of incredible and deserves a lot of praise. However, at the end of the day, a striker’s job is to score goals and that has been missing from Lacazette.

The former Lyon man suffered something similar about two seasons ago under Arsene Wenger. A gifted penalty from Aubameyang did the job back then but it’s up to Arteta to find something that will work this time around.

Find a way to integrate Ceballos:

Apart from a few initial sparks early in the season, Dani Ceballos has struggled. A lot of criticism has come his way over the last few weeks with people calling his loan deal a terrible piece of business from Arsenal.

However, there is no denying the Spaniard’s quality. Ceballos, if he can be fit into the squad, is the ideal combination of Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey. The midfielder has everything that is required from a modern-day midfielder but he needs a good run of games to showcase that skillset.

Give Bellerin more freedom:

One of Arteta’s highlights since joining the club has been his use of our full-backs. The right-back tucks in with the midfield and the left-back is given the freedom to drive up the pitch. Granit Xhaka slotting in at a ‘false left-back role’ has given us the perfect balance but more can be done.

Bellerin, as he showed in the game against Chelsea, has a lot to offer going forward. His pace, combined with that of Pepe’s on that right flank, can be a massive weapon for us and this week-long break in Dubai should be used by the boss to work on that.
