The risk of injuries to their star players is arguably the biggest reason why football fans hate the international break.
Arsenal have often been victims of that, and a moment in the game between Norway and Gibraltar in the Victoria Stadium last night struck fear in Gooner hearts across the globe.
Real Madrid loanee and Arsenal fan favourite Martin Odegaard hurt his ankle and went down in pain. He tried to continue, but couldn’t, and he was forced to come off after just 45 minutes on the pitch.

Arsenal fans feared the worst. Our success this season depends on Odegaard firing all cylinders as he has been over the last few weeks, but coming off injured in his first game away on international duty is not the news supporters were hoping to hear.
Thankfully, it’s not that bad. Norway coach Stale Solbakken and Odegaard himself came out after the game and confirmed that the Arsenal star’s injury is not a bad one.
Solbakken said, as per The Metro: “It is not a serious injury. I have big hopes that Martin will be fit for the game against Turkey on Saturday.”
Odegaard confirmed the same: “I twisted my ankle, but I think I’ll be fit for the game on Saturday.” (Metro)
That is incredible news for Arsenal fans, but he is still in line to play a couple more games for Norway in this break, and that is worrying.
