Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was raving about his star performer against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby yesterday.

The Gunners conceded a wonder goal against the run of play in the first half. We were dominating the small club from across town, but Erik Lamela’s rabona gave them an undeserved lead.

It looked like one of those days at that point but the lads kept their heads up. They went for it again and Martin Odegaard scored the equaliser just before half time. That changed the game.

Arteta was absolutely delighted with Odegaard’s goal but that was not all. The Arsenal boss was truly wowed by the Real Madrid man’s talent, work-rate and body language on the pitch, which he claims has made us a much better side.

He said, as per “He’s got real stamina and he’s so talented, but his work-rate is incredible.

“Not only that, he’s intelligent. The timing of his runs, when he presses, his body shape. I’m really impressed and he had an incredible performance today. He’s giving us something different and it’s making us better.”

Odegaard’s stats against Tottenham:

Odegaard was simply superb against Spurs yesterday.

The Norway skipper had 75 touches of the ball and completed 56 passes at a stunning passing accuracy of 97% – the highest on the pitch. He registered two key passes, completed 100% of his long balls and scored a truly well-deserved goal. (SofaScore)

Arsenal fans, like Arteta, love Odegaard. If it was up to us, we’d go all out to sign him permanently, but nobody knows what Real Madrid will decide at the end of this season. Hopefully Edu can do what he does best and get a deal sorted this summer.
