PL boss vows to have 'big discussions with Arsenal' to sign 'special' player

Arsenal have a lot of tough decisions to make in this summer’s transfer window. Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is looking to make things harder for the Gunners by coming in with a bid for Joe Willock.

The young Englishman joined the Magpies on loan in January and he has been a huge hit. He scored on his debut there and has managed to pick up two more goals in his last two appearances as well.

Newcastle fans really like Willock and so does Bruce. The Magpies boss admitted last week that he would love to keep hold of him, and he has backed that again today by claiming that he will have ‘big discussions’ with Arsenal soon.

He said, as per Chronicle Live: “You could see by his elation he was delighted for the team. He’s a young lad. I’d love to keep him here. Obviously, we’ll have big discussions with Arsenal but he’s the modern day player: young, fit, athletic. He’s only 21 so he’s got a big future.”

Willock certainly has a big future ahead of him. He has always been highly-rated at Hale End, and he has done fairly well for Arsenal whenever he has featured in the Europa League over the last two years.

The 21-year-old was tipped by many to be the heir to Aaron Ramsey’s throne. His ability to drive with the ball and his late runs into the box are just like the Welshman’s, but like Rambo, he might see his future away from Arsenal.

The Insider’s View:

Mikel Arteta is certainly a big fan of Willock. The Arsenal boss labelled him as a player with ‘special’ qualities last year, and he boldly claimed that he trusts him despite his very young age. (The Sun)

Arsenal are also likely to be short in central midfield this summer. Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard could return to Real Madrid, while Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are all expected move on as well.

That should leave a door open for Willock to come back and stake his claim. However, his value is rapidly rising, and if a club – Newcastle or any other – come in with a substantial bid, it’s hard to imagine Arsenal turning down that offer.
