Arsenal nudged their way closer to the Premier League title with a dramatic late win over Everton thanks to Viktor Gyokeres and Max Dowman.

Gyokeres was on hand to tap home after an error from Jordan Pickford allowed Piero Hincapie to nudge across goal for the Swede to sweep home, before teenager Max Dowman sealed the win.

With The Emirates erupting, it felt like a title-winning moment if there was ever going to be one but Mikel Arteta still has plenty to take away from the game.

Defence wins titles

This is an old saying from America when it comes to the NBA but it’s now prevalent in the English football game as well.

It might worry some that 16-year-old Max Dowman is an option off the bench but on this performance, there is a reason why he’s involved.

It was Dowman’s cross which led to the opening goal and then right at the death, it was Dowman who sprung free to break away and roll into an empty goal to seal the deal.

Put simply, this young midfielder is a special, special talent and the more he plays, the more everyone sees it.

Come next season, Dowman is going to be hard to dislodge from the first-team.

Arsenal have the mentality to be champions

We are in crunch time of the season and so much has been thrown at Arsenal in recent weeks over style of play and set-pieces that come the 90th minute, these Arsenal players might have given up.

However, they once again showed why they are top dogs this season.

When it mattered, they stuck to the plan and ensured that they kept going. The Gunners knew that one goal was all it needed and eventually they got that goal.
