Arsenal were stunned at the Emirates by Manchester United as once again, Michael Carrick got the better of Mikel Arteta.
Carrick beat Arteta in 2021, and upon returning to United in another temporary role, he stung the Arsenal manager a second time.
It’s now three Premier League games without a win for the Gunners, whose lead at the top of the table reduced to four points.
Pressure is mounting on Arsenal as the title race nears the business end, and it’s so clear where Arteta needs to improve his side.
Who was Arsenal’s most disappointing player against Man United?
Explain your answer!
Aaron Ramsey says Arsenal have an issue in attack
After the win at Old Trafford back in August, Bruno Fernandes said that Arsenal didn’t create chances.
Fast-forward to now, and, alarmingly, the Man United captain’s feedback rings true.
Arsenal created just one big chance to score against United at home, as per Sofascore, which is far from acceptable, something Aaron Ramsey echoed post-match.
What was Arsenal’s biggest problem against Man United?
Speaking to Stadium Astro, the Arsenal icon branded the lack of creativity as a big issue for the Gunners.
“There are bigger issues to resolve,” Ramsey warned Arteta.
“Three games not creating clear-cut opportunities in open play, that will be a concern. Arsenal don’t do things the easy way, but now it’s about the reaction, how you respond to this?”
Ramsey is spot on, as before the United win, Arsenal played out two 0-0 draws in the Premier League, with the main takeaway from both being a lack of presence going forward.
Arsenal should utilise the January transfer window
The lack of excitement going forward only makes the decision to send Ethan Nwaneri on loan to Marseille all the more frustrating.
It’s possible that it’s not just a coaching issue, but a personnel one too.
Do Arsenal need to sign a new attacker in January?
The Man Utd performance suggests so 🫣
Andrea Berta has the January transfer window to utilise if he believes Arsenal need additional inspiration, which, with the stakes as high as they are, could be wise.
Right now, the players in Arteta’s attack aren’t doing what they need to be, giving the boss an unexpected challenge in the title race.
Could a new signing make a difference, or is this one on the boss?
