Gabriel Jesus had an afternoon to forget when Arsenal faced Mansfield Town in the FA Cup.
It was always going to be a tricky game for the Gunners, but not many would’ve expected the Stags to be as good as they were on Saturday.
Many Arsenal players struggled, but none more so than Jesus, who produced one of his worst performances in the famous red and white.
That should end Jesus’ hopes of a new deal at Arsenal.

Arsenal should reject Gabriel Jesus’ request for a new contract
Gabriel Jesus is Arsenal’s third-choice striker behind Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz.
The Brazil international is absolutely incredible on his day, but injuries have troubled him throughout his time at the Emirates Stadium.
Furthermore, Jesus has been extremely inconsistent, and his performance against League One strugglers Mansfield Town showed just that.
The Arsenal number nine wasn’t a threat at any point in the game. He wasn’t great on the ball, his movement was very poor, and he did nothing worth mentioning in the final third.

That should convince the Gunners board that Jesus’ time at the club is up, even though he has been dreaming of a new contract.
Jesus told Goal in January: “My wish is to stay at Arsenal. I have a contract as well. I want to extend my contract, I want to stay, I want to win trophies with Arsenal because I came here with a purpose.”
Andrea Berta cannot grant Jesus his wish. A new contract cannot even be considered; in fact, plans must be put in place to move him on at the end of this season.
Yes, that is really harsh, but Jesus is one of Arsenal’s highest-paid players while being nowhere near the top of Mikel Arteta’s pecking order. Add that to his performance against Mansfield, and he needs to go.

Gabriel Jesus was Arsenal’s worst-rated player vs Mansfield Town
Jesus will not want to look back on his performance against Mansfield Town.
The Brazilian was nowhere near his usual level, which is unacceptable against a team that are 16th in the third division of English football.
In his 90 minutes on the pitch, Jesus had 35 touches of the ball and lost possession 10 times. He only boasted a 67 per cent passing accuracy as well, which isn’t good enough.
In the box, Jesus missed a big chance to score in the second half, and that made the game a lot more nervy for Arsenal than it otherwise would’ve been.
Sofascore gave Jesus a 6.1/10 rating – the worst of all Arsenal players. Even Marli Salmon, whose mistake led to Mansfield Town’s goal, got a higher score.
