Martin Odegaard is having a dream World Cup campaign.

The Arsenal captain led Norway out of the group stages and has now helped them book a place in the last 16 of the competition as well.

That is a huge achievement for the Vikings, who are playing in the World Cup for the first time in this century.

Odegaard has been one of their best players so far.

Arsenal star Martin Odegaard makes history at the World Cup

Martin Odegaard had a difficult season at Arsenal.

The Norwegian had multiple injury issues, and that cost him the rhythm he needed to deliver consistent performances.

Yet, the season ended on a high as Odegaard became the first Arsenal captain since Patrick Vieira to lift the Premier League title.

Now, the former Real Madrid man has risen to the occasion for his country by providing an assist in each of his first three World Cup games.

That has been done only two times before in the history of World Cups – Igor Belanov did it first for the USSR in 1986, and Michael Ballack did it for Germany in 2002.

Now, 24 years later, Odegaard has joined that elite company.

What is more interesting is that among Arsenal players in history, their current skipper has become just the second player to score or assist in three consecutive World Cup games.

The only other Gunner to do it was Dennis Bergkamp all the way back in 1998.

Martin Odegaard’s Norway form is good news for Arsenal

Everyone at Arsenal will be pleased to see Odegaard doing so well for Norway.

The skipper is a fantastic player on his day, and he is capable of unlocking any defence when he is playing at his best level.

Odegaard’s good form will give him the confidence to return to the Emirates at his best. Also, the Norwegian’s value will increase because of his productive performances.

Arsenal can then decide whether to keep hold of their captain or cash in on him before the window shuts.

Either way, his good form is great news for Arsenal.
