Arsenal fans impressed by Max Dowman after performance against Newcastle

Arsenal fans have been waiting a while to get a glimpse of Max Dowman in action, and now they’ve managed to see what he is all about twice in the space of a few days.

The Hale End academy star made an appearance from the bench, making his mark on the final score with a telling contribution.

After a tight game between Arsenal and Newcastle, it was level at 2-2 heading into the final few minutes, until Dowman changed it all.

The youngster won a penalty, which Martin Odegaard tucked away to help win the game 3-2 with a second pre-season tour victory.

Fans were overjoyed by the impact of Dowman, taking to social media to rave about his performances.

One supporter said: “Max Dowman, take a bow,” while another added: “Max Dowman. You can’t get into his head. Generational.”

While it is still only pre-season, fans pointed out how well he dealt with a player as tough as Joelinton, stating: “Joelinton smashed into Max Dowman thinking he was making mark on him, only to be absolutely humiliated for the next 20 minutes by a 15-year-old. The way this kid carries, dribbles and makes decisions in the final third is on another level. He will make an impact this season.”

Another simply said: “Yeah Max Dowman has the potential to be the very very best. Against proper PL opposition, he’s nearly scored with two great shots on target, then completely roasts Joelinton to force him to foul and win a penalty.”

Some fans pointed out that the hype surrounding Dowman may need to be dialled down, but there is still excitement there, stating: “You always need to manage the development and noise around players like Dowman, but there’s only so long you can overlook talent of this magnitude. The bravery, the running power, the technicality, the ability to match seasoned professionals stride for stride. It’s so exciting.”

“Saka & Dowman. I’ve seen enough,” another fan said, likening the pair to Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi.

It’s clear that Dowman is passing all of the early tests in his Arsenal career, with a big future and some lessons to learn ahead.
