Arsenal beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at the Emirates on a rather uneventful night at the Emirates to conclude 2024’s action.

Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Arsenal beat Ipswich to leapfrog Chelsea and move to second in the Premier League table.

While three points was the most important thing, some will be left dissatisfied from the lackluster display, despite a dominant performance.

One goal was all it took to claim three points, on a night to savour for Mikel Arteta to bid farewell to 2024.

Arsenal fans rave about Myles Lewis-Skelly

Havertz was the goalscorer, but it was another player who left fans in disbelief over the quality of his performance.

For the third consecutive Premier League game, Arteta named 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly in the starting lineup at left-back.

Lewis-Skelly has impressed in the Arsenal first team this season, graduating from Hale End to show his worth in not only the top-flight, but in the Champions League too.

During Arsenal’s win over Ipswich, the teenager’s stellar form continued, seeing fans rave about his performance on social media.

The midfielder-turned-left-back’s display had one fan dubbing him ‘one of the best’ in Arteta’s current squad.

“Myles Lewis-Skelly is once again the man to talk about, what an absolutely immense talent, easily one of the best players within the entire 11.”

Another agreed, calling the teen a ‘frightening talent’ who looks as though he’s ‘been in the first team all his life’.

“This kid Lewis Skelly is good,” a supporter said, while another went a step further to compare the 18-year-old to a certain icon of the game.

“Wow, that Lewis-Skelly turn is prime Zidane.”

Lewis-Skelly’s form on the left side of defence is playing to Arteta’s and his own strengths, being capable of pulling off the inverted role with ease.

“From what I’ve seen there’s nothing Lewis Skelly can’t do Calafiori can. He’s also a better defender,” an Arsenal fan declared, as praise for the youngster kept coming.

Lewis-Skelly dominated Ipswich

Jurrien Timber’s nickname for Lewis-Skelly is ‘Young King’, a label that many will agree with given just how impressive the academy graduate has been of late.

The 18-year-old is currently keeping summer signing Riccardo Calafiori out of the squad, telling of just how highly Arteta rates his talent.

Given how the teenager is performing, there’s no need to disturb his run of games in the best XI, with Ipswich only reinforcing such.
