Arsenal welcome Nottingham Forest to the Emirates Stadium as they look to bounce back from defeat at Liverpool before the international break.

Martin Odegaard returned to Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up after recovering from a shoulder knock to impress for Norway on international duty.

Mikel Merino retained his place in midfield as Declan Rice was dropped to the bench and the Gunners made a bright start to the match.

Merino saw an early effort saved well by Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels with new signing Eberechi Eze also having an early impression on the Arsenal fans.

Arsenal fans love Eberechi Eze’s early flair in Nottingham Forest clash

Eze has been brought to the club to provide moments of creative spark in fixtures such as Nottingham Forest when defences drop deep.

In the fifth minute of the Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners number ten drifted inside and produced a magnificent dummy that set up a chance for the skipper Odegaard.

Arsenal fans have immediately taken to X to give their reaction with one fan writing: “One Eze dummy has just changed my life.”

Another fan wrote: “Eze shoulder drops and dummies already getting some gasps from the Emirates crowd so far.”

Another Arsenal supporter alluded to the fact that this is the first real opportunity to see what Eze can bring to the side, they wrote: “Nah… we’re gonna enjoy Eze in this team.”

Eberechi Eze could solve Martin Odegaard injury concern

It wasn’t all good news for the Gunners as their skipper Odegaard went off injured in the opening twenty minutes after falling on his shoulder once again.

The Norwegian was replaced by Ethan Nwaneri, however, moving forward Eze has already shown that he can occupy the number ten position.

Most of Eze’s bright work in the game so far has come from his roaming into a more central area and he has the vision and technique to unlock stubborn defences.

What was also noticeable about the opening exchanges was Eze’s work rate off the ball – something that is a non-negotiable under Arteta.
