One of Mikel Arteta’s players had Arsenal fans in awe during the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

The Gunners travelled to battle Chelsea with intent, as was to be expected in a semi-final.

Arsenal’s performance was contrasting to the display Arteta’s side presented at Stamford Bridge in November, with levels clearly boosted.

Ben White, Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi were responsible for Arsenal’s goals on the night, but it was another player who had fans talking.

Arsenal fans loved Leandro Trossard’s performance against Chelsea

There were fitness concerns about Leandro Trossard in the days leading up to the match, but Arteta named the Belgian in his starting XI.

Chelsea would’ve been aggrieved that the winger made it back in time, as Trossard was unplayable at times.

Arsenal fans couldn’t stop talking about the 31-year-old on social media, which was unsurprising.

“The things Trossard does to defenders should be illegal, just glides past them,” one fan posted on X.

Another said, “Trossard in flowstate is such a scary player.”

Praise for Trossard flooded in, as Arsenal supporters were blown away by the level the forward was playing at.

“Someone ask Trossard to chill. bro is on a mission this year.”

Another user posted, “I have no words for this Trossard level up this season. He’s crazy.”

One fan said, “Trossard you are MAGIC,” with a fellow Gooner describing the former Brighton man as ‘so special’.

The 2023 signing was replaced in the 67th minute by Gabriel Martinelli, emphasising the little time he needed to put on a show.

Trossard caused Chelsea so many first-half problems

In a dominant first half from Arsenal, Trossard was one of the standouts, arguably being the player that Chelsea couldn’t handle most.

By the half-time whistle, the 31-year-old had already attempted five dribbles, completing three of them, running Josh Acheampong ragged.

It’s been a particularly good week for Arsenal’s left-siders, as Gabriel Martinelli rotated out of the squad following his hat-trick to see Trossard come in and dominate.

Arsenal’s squad depth was showcased at Stamford Bridge, with few players as exciting to watch on the night as Trossard.
