Piero Hincapie got some minutes as Arsenal beat Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The Ecuador international joined the Gunners on a season-long loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen on deadline day in the summer transfer window.

Hincapie played a few minutes in the Champions League clash against Athletic Club, but he then suffered an injury that kept him out for a few weeks.

The defender is fit now, and he came on for the final eight minutes of normal time as Mikel Arteta’s men held onto their one-goal lead against Palace.

Arsenal fans have now had their say on Hincapie.

Arsenal fans deliver verdict on Piero Hincapie after his Premier League debut vs Crystal Palace

Piero Hincapie didn’t have a lot to do when he came on against Crystal Palace, but whatever he did, he did it well.

Many Arsenal fans are excited about the Ecuadorian after his little cameo at the Emirates.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Hincapie is also a beast. His intensity is just unmatched. We will see how he is on the offensive side, but this is not someone who will warm the bench. Hopefully, we get Myles in midfield too.”

Another wrote: “Hincapie looked really good today as well.”

“Hincapie looks like Messi at the back. Insane defender,” said another.

Another Arsenal supporter posted: “Hincapie cameo was very exciting. The speed over distance when he had the opportunity was very, very good. Very strong and aggressive in the 1v1 duels too. He’s going to be a very good asset to this team. Providing that outside overlap option consistently.”

“Hincapie, by the way, he’s another animal. So solid,” wrote another.

When Piero Hincapie could make his full Arsenal debut

Hincapie hasn’t had the start he would’ve liked at Arsenal because of his injury, but he is back now and will want to make an impact.

So far, the Leverkusen loanee has made two substitute appearances for the Gunners, and he has caught the eye on both occasions.

Now, it’s time for a start, and we think Arteta could give him the nod in the Carabao Cup clash against Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday.

The Seagulls, under Fabian Hurzeler, are not an easy side to face, so it will be a difficult test for Hincapie.

But that is exactly what he needs after recovering from his injury.
