Gary Lineker told Gyokeres to adapt his movement, and against Unai Emery’s team, the striker looks to have quickly made that change.

Over the weekend, Gyokeres was really bad against Brighton, but the Swede is being applauded by supporters following his display versus Villa.

Viktor Gyokeres’ performance impresses Arsenal fans vs Aston Villa

Viktor Gyokeres’ performance in the first half against Aston Villa looked rather solid, and he looked a real handful for the visitors’ back line.

The striker managed just five touches in the first half, but when he did receive the ball, he was getting into the right areas and came so close to scoring.

The 27-year-old produced three attempts at goal, and there is a sense that if he continues to make the right runs, he will eventually be rewarded.

During the clash at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal fans took to social media to sing the praises of the Swedish international.

One fan said: “That’s what you want to see from Gyokeres. Smart movement across both Villa centre-backs, attacking where the ball might be rather than waiting for it to come to where he is.”

“Really impressed by Gyokeres’ movement,” added another.

There was yet more praise for Gyokeres’ movement: “All I need from Gyokeres is this movement in the box. The chances will come.”

A fourth fan said: “That’s better from Gyokeres. You need to attack things and put yourself about in those areas – good movement.”

Finally, another added: “All them people who talk about Gyokeres’ movement don’t know what they’re talking about. There’s nothing wrong with his movement… When the ball is on the left! You’ve seen it a few times now. He just can’t work out Saka’s jinking runs. Soon enough, he’ll just start.”

Ashley Young also praises Viktor Gyokeres’ movement for Arsenal

Young also praised Gyokeres’ movement, but now the former Manchester United winger just wants to see him getting on the scoresheet.

“He’s getting himself in the box, he’s making the right runs. It’s just getting on the scoresheet and this one here, he makes a great run and gets ahead of the defender, but he just can’t direct it on goal,” Young told Sky Sports.

“It was great movement to get to that near post, it’s now just about hitting the target and getting on the scoresheet.”
