Arsenal have picked up a convincing victory over Leeds United in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side went into the clash at Elland Road after dropping points in each of their last three league games.

A win was an absolute necessity on Saturday, and thanks to Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Jesus and Karl Darlow’s own goal, the three points were secured.

By winning the game, Arsenal managed to do something that they had only done once before in their entire history.

Who was your Arsenal Man of the Match vs Leeds United?

Arsenal repeat feat that was last achieved nearly 26 years ago

Arsenal have had a very busy schedule since the turn of the year.

The game against Leeds United was their ninth fixture in January, and six of those have been away from home.

There was a lot of noise when the Premier League leaders dropped points against the likes of Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United, but people stopped talking about the other fixtures.

Arsenal won all of their remaining games, and what is really impressive is that five of those wins came in fixtures away from the Emirates Stadium.

The last time the North Londoners won five away games in a single month was all the way back in April 2000 – nearly 26 years ago.

Funnily enough, that run included a 4-0 thrashing of Leeds United at Elland Road as well. [Opta’s Harvey Downes]

Arsenal equal another personal Premier League record

Most of the criticism directed at Arsenal this season has been towards their attack.

Lack of goals has been a big issue for the Gunners, so much so that among their top scorers in the Premier League list, own goals rank second with five.

In all competitions, opponents have scored seven goals for Arsenal, which is the joint-highest for the club in the Premier League era.

Do Arsenal deserve credit for forcing own goals from opponents or are they just getting lucky?

With plenty of games still left to be played and Arteta’s men causing so much chaos inside the box during set-pieces, we expect that number to go up.

Rival fans will mock the fact that Arsenal are being helped more by own goals than their own attackers, but they all count.

If set-pieces and own goals help them to win the quadruple, so be it. We’re sure Gooners will accept it with open arms.
