Arsenal are having a truly incredible season.

The Gunners received a huge boost in the Premier League title race on Monday after Manchester City dropped points to Everton.

Then, on Tuesday night, the Gunners secured their place in the final of the Champions League by beating Atletico Madrid 1-0, taking the aggregate score to 2-1.

That victory has now helped Arsenal achieve something no other club in Champions League history has ever managed – not even Real Madrid.

Arsenal set Champions League record that was never achieved before

Arsenal knew they would have to dig deep against Atletico Madrid because Diego Simeone’s side rarely makes things easy in knockout football.

However, the Gunners handled the occasion brilliantly and once again showed why they are one of the best teams in Europe.

Saka’s goal was enough to secure victory on the night and book Arsenal’s place in the Champions League final in Budapest.

That’s impressive on its own, but what makes it even better is the fact that they have done it without losing any of their 14 Champions League games since the start of the season.

No team in history had ever managed that in a single edition of the competition while playing at least 14 games, even though it has happened on 43 occasions in the past. (Opta)

Even Real Madrid, who are the kings of the Champions League and hold countless records in the competition, haven’t managed it – this is one that now belongs to Arsenal.

It is another sign that this current Arsenal side could be genuinely special.

Arsenal’s European run becomes all the more impressive when you consider how they have dealt with constant injury problems throughout the season.

The Gunners have had at least one player missing in every single game they have played this campaign. That situation could finally change by the time the Champions League final arrives in Budapest.
