A boring night at the Emirates ended in jubilant scenes as Kai Havertz scored a last-minute winner against Chelsea.

Havertz’s goal sent Arsenal to the Carabao Cup semi-final, scoring the fourth goal of the semi-final tie to send N5 into pandemonium.

Against his former club, the German ensured that Mikel Arteta would take Arsenal back to Wembley for the first time since 2020.

On a night when plenty of his Arsenal teammates struggled against Chelsea, Havertz stole the headlines and subsequently ended a nine-year drought at the club.

Havertz only had 13 touches against Chelsea, but that’s all the 26-year-old needed to leave his mark on the contest.

The striker’s goal in the 97th minute was heavily celebrated as the match-winner, and rightly so, as it provided Arsenal fans with something they hadn’t seen since 2017.

Havertz scored Arsenal’s first 90th-minute match-winner in a 1-0 contest for the first time since Alexis Sanchez’s penalty against Burnley in November 2017.

Sanchez’s penalty stood for a 92nd-minute winner on that day, and years later, Havertz replicated the feat in the 97th minute against Chelsea.

It was a perfect ending to a regimented performance from Arsenal, who will face either Newcastle United or Manchester City at Wembley in March.

For Chelsea, there couldn’t have been a more frustrating ending to the tie than seeing their former player score the winner.

Havertz denied his former club a spot in the cup final, and then celebrated to show his love for Arsenal, pointing at the Gunners’ badge on his shirt.

The German might’ve won Chelsea the Champions League, but the Blues are surely sick of the sight of their ex-striker now.

Havertz scored his third goal against Chelsea for Arsenal in only five appearances against his former employer, who will already be fearing coming up against him in the Premier League on matchday 28.
