Arsenal player ratings vs Manchester City
David Raya – 7
Reliable set of hands between the posts, left exposed for Haaland’s opener. Pulled off another superb save to add to his 2024/25 collection to deny Haaland from close range after the interval.
Riccardo Calafiori – 7
Poor for Haaland’s goal, let Savinho spin him and open space up, redeemed himself with a fantastic first half goal on his full Premier League debut. Was handed a wake up call from Savinho’s early threat.
William Saliba – 7
Strong as expected for the most part although, somehow let Haaland get in between him and Gabriel for City’s opener. Imperious defending to keep City out for the majority of the second half.
Gabriel – 7
As per Saliba’s rating, the duo were a frame behind Haaland for the goal however, Gabriel made up for it with his second huge header in the space of a week.
Jurrien Timber – 9
Was handed a great task playing on the right side in place of Ben White, a task that he approached impressively, diluting the threat of Doku throughout.
A real difference maker in the squad with the versatility to match, no task seems to be out of his ability.
Thomas Partey – 6
Marshalled the midfield well against the talent in City’s squad, another big performance from the Ghanaian who has had a significant job to do over the past few weeks.
Declan Rice – 6
Added a lot more stability to Arsenal’s midfield on his return to action, supported Partey well and read the game expertly when his side were down to 10 men.
Leandro Trossard – 4
Extremely stupid to get sent off before half-time, regardless of the nature of his dismissal. Trossard was also ineffective before his early exit, completing only four passes.
Bukayo Saka – 6
Tremendous assist for Gabriel’s goal in what was the perfect corner once again. Saka equaled Thierry Henry’s assist record by recording five in his opening five Premier League games. A strange decision for him to only get 45 minutes after Trossard was dismissed.
Gabriel Martinelli – 7
It was the performance that Martinelli needed after a woeful start to the season, as the Brazilian was arguably Arsenal’s move lively attacker at the Etihad.
Just as he did against Spurs, the winger provided defensive support at a time of need, making his performance solid in a rounded nature.
Kai Havertz – 6.5
Superb target man for Arsenal to have both going forward and when needed in duels, an imposing figure on the pitch.
Substitutes
Ben White – 6
Came on at half time for Saka in the wake of Trossard’s dismissal. Played a crucial part in Arsenal defending wave after wave of City’s attacks.
Jakub Kiwior – 6
Did what he needed to do after coming on, considering that Kiwior hasn’t played a lot recently, he did well against the champions against the odds.
Gabriel Jesus – N/A
Myles Lewis-Skelly – N/A
