Arsenal visited Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time ever and picked up a win.

The Gunners have struggled on their trips to Merseyside in recent years. Goodison Park was never an easy place to go to, and there were some fears about the Toffees’ new home ground as well.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side dominated large parts of the game, and although only one goal was scored – a Viktor Gyokeres penalty – they deserved the three points.

Almost every Arsenal player who played against Everton did well, but what really caught our eye was the group of players who didn’t even feature.

Arsenal’s incredible squad depth was on display against Everton

Arsenal have the best squad in the Premier League.

The Gunners completed eight new signings in the summer transfer window. They retained most of their players from last season as well, which is why they have two top-class players in every position.

Arteta named a very strong lineup against the Toffees. All of the Arsenal manager’s first-choice starters got the nod, and many of them caught the eye.

However, their bench is what impressed us.

Arsenal had six attacking options available to be brought on: Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Ethan Nwaneri and Mikel Merino.

Arteta ended up using only three of the above names. He left Eze and Madueke, who cost over £120 million combined in the summer, as unused substitutes.

The fact that Arsenal can go to one of the toughest places in the Premier League and pick up a win against an organised David Moyes side without two big summer signings is outstanding.

Everyone is talking about Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice’s performance and Gyokeres’ goal, but nobody has highlighted Arsenal’s depth after the win against Everton.

That is their biggest strength this season.

Mikel Arteta may have dropped a selection hint for the Carabao Cup quarter-final

Arsenal’s next game is against Crystal Palace in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners haven’t won that competition since before Arsene Wenger arrived, and they were knocked out in the semi-finals last season.

Arteta will want to go all the way this term, and the fact that he didn’t use Eze and Madueke from the start suggests they could start against the Eagles.

Even those who came off the bench – Jesus, Martinelli and Merino – could all get the nod from the start as well along with Myles Lewis-Skelly and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

It will be interesting to see how Arsenal will fare if the above names play from the beginning.
