Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Bukayo Saka led the team out with the captain’s armband, and the England international, like many of his teammates, had a mixed game.

Saka tried to unleash a few strikes at goal, but they didn’t come off. However, he provided the assist for Mikel Merino’s equaliser, which helped Arsenal avoid defeat.

Has Bukayo Saka become Arsenal’s most clutch player?

Is Saka now Mikel Arteta’s most important player? Let us know your pick in the comments…

Bukayo Saka provides his first Premier League assist in 365 days

Saka is one of the best players in the Premier League.

The Arsenal number seven has consistently been brilliant over the years, and he has produced several match-winning moments in the famous red and white.

Against Chelsea on Sunday, Saka’s brilliant cross from the right wing led to Merino levelling the game in the second half.

Nobody was surprised by the quality of the Englishman’s cross, but there is a statistic that is going to shock a lot of people.

Saka’s assist at Stamford Bridge was not only his first of this season, but also his first in the Premier League for a whole year.

The last time he registered an assist in the English top-flight before Sunday was in November 2024 against West Ham United – exactly 365 days ago.

Bukayo Saka will not be happy with his stats this season

Saka has not been bad by any means this season.

The 24-year-old is a constant threat down the right flank, works tirelessly for Mikel Arteta’s side and is often one of the best players on the pitch.

However, Saka’s numbers in the Premier League do not reflect his quality.

Four direct goal contributions after 11 games is not a great return at all, and we are convinced that Saka will not be happy with those figures.

The hamstring injury that kept him out of the side for a few weeks has definitely been a factor, but the Arsenal star sets very high standards for himself, which is why that return is not good enough.

However, we expect that to change in the coming weeks as Arsenal’s list of fixtures becomes slightly easier.
