Arsenal and Liverpool put on a show for the Premier League on match day nine of the 2024/25 season.
Meetings between the two giants of English football always provide entertainment, with the latest clash being no different.
Mikel Arteta and Arne Slot’s squads battled over 90 minutes to see the match end in a 2-2 draw with Bukayo Saka, Mikel Merino, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah on the scoresheet.
The result sees the title race heat up early into the campaign, with both clubs keeping pressure on Manchester City after nine games played.

Andrey Arshavin in attendance for Arsenal vs Liverpool
There were several familiar faces present at the Emirates for the clash, with Dennis Bergkamp applauded on the pitch as he presented David Raya with Arsenal’s Player of the Month award.
Bergkamp wasn’t the only club icon in attendance in North London, as Andrey Arshavin watched on from the stands.
The former forward set a challenge for those on the pitch on the afternoon, captioning his Instagram post, “Will anyone score 4 tonight?”
Unfortunately, no Arsenal player was able to replicate Arshavin’s 2009 achievement against Liverpool, as Arsene Wenger’s lucky charm at Anfield is yet to be matched.
Arsenal players to score four goals in a Premier League match
No Arsenal player has scored four goals in a Premier League game since Arshavin’s famous quadruple against Liverpool at Anfield.
The dramatic 4-4 draw will forever be associated with the Russian, being only the second player in Arsenal’s history to net four in a single Premier League match.
Thierry Henry scored four in 2004 during the Gunners’ 5-0 win over Leeds United, with the two players having bragging rights on the achievement in North London.
Scoring four in a Premier League game has become a bit of a trend in 2024, with the feat happening three times this year.
Cole Palmer netted four twice for Chelsea, with Erling Haaland scoring four for Manchester City.
