Arsenal travelled to Manchester United in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, with the next chapter in the rivalry being written by both sides.

In a frustrating first half, Mikel Arteta saw his side dominate the ball but had very little to show for it in terms of chances.

Just moments before the break, Bruno Fernandes scored from a free-kick – though it was seen after that Anthony Taylor made an error with the free-kick wall distance.

Arsenal did manage to draw level though as Declan Rice found the back of the net with a strike just inside the box.

However, in the end, there wasn’t enough to earn all three points as the Gunners were forced to settle for a draw.

So with that said, here’s a look at Arsenal Insider’s player ratings from Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United.

Arsenal player ratings vs Manchester United

David Raya – 7

Goalkeeper David Raya appeared to be too far to the opposite post when called into action for Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick, which went in past his outstretched hand.

The game could’ve been out of reach though, had it not been for the Spaniard, who made some big stops in the match.

Raya made a huge stop in the dying moments to ensure a point was secured for his side.

Jurrien Timber – 6

Jurrien Timber had a fine match, dealing with the threat of Manchester United on the counter-attack while providing some threat himself.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 6

Defender Gabriel Magalhaes was called into action very few times but looked secure and comfortable when dealing with the threat of Joshua Zirkzee in particular.

William Saliba – 6

Another of the centre-back ranks, William Saliba was rarely called into action and managed to snuff out danger on the few occasions that he was.

Riccardo Calafiori – 4

Starting at left-back, Riccardo Calafiori struggled all match with Alejandro Garnacho and Noussair Mazraoui.

The Italian gave away a costly free-kick that saw Bruno Fernandes give the home side the lead in the first-half.

Calafiori was then hooked for Myles Lewis-Skelly in the second half after a difficult display.

Thomas Partey – 6

Thomas Partey had a decent display, circulating the ball well and helping with the build-up play before he was substituted in the second half.

Declan Rice – 8

Threatening throughout the match, Declan Rice looked to make several late bursts into the box to help the side finally find the back of the net.

The midfielder managed to do that himself in the second half, when his strike on the right-hand-side crashed into the post before hitting the back of the net.

Rice then managed to bail Arsenal out of trouble with an incredible challenge in the box to stop an almost certain goal.

Martin Odegaard – 6

Martin Odegaard tried to dictate play for Arsenal, attempting to create many of the openings that the side lacked.

A few blocked efforts at goal stopped him from getting that goal he craved after a decent performance in midweek.

Ethan Nwaneri – 5

Hale End academy star Ethan Nwaneri was given another start on the right flank and he was attempting to make chances for the side.

The youngster struggled to deal with Diogo Dalot, who dealt with his short bursts of pace and trickery well.

Leandro Trossard – 4

Leandro Trossard struggled to make anything really happen for Arsenal as his involvement on the left flank ended with little to show for it.

Mikel Merino -5

Another game up front for Mikel Merino ended with yet more frustration as he failed to get the opportunities he would’ve wanted.

The make-shift striker was unable to make the sort of runs that were required of a forward to score goals.

Substitutes

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 6

Coming into the fray in the second half, Myles Lewis-Skelly looked much more secure at full-back than his counterpart Calafiori.

He looked to circulate possession well while his defensive ability was largely fine too.

Gabriel Martinelli – 7

Making his return from injury, Gabriel Martinelli looked a threat while featuring on the right flank for the side.

His bursts of pace took him beyond the wing-back and into some dangerous positions that were not taken advantage of.

Kieran Tierney – N/A

Making a late cameo for the side, Kieran Tierney came on to play on the left flank and made a few telling runs without creating much.
