Arsenal made their way to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night as the North London side looked to return to winning ways.

It was a tough match at the City Ground as Riccardo Calafiori went closest in the first half as his curling effort struck the inside of the post.

Arsenal continued to put the pressure on while Nottingham Forest hit back, though few clear chances fell for either team.

The Gunners and Forest had to settle for a point each, keeping the distance to each other in the Premier League table.

So, with that being said, here’s a look at a few things you may have missed from Arsenal’s clash against Nottingham Forest.

Mikel Arteta fumes at referee decision

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was left fuming with referee Andy Madley in the 21st minute when the match official made a call against his side.

It was a clear mistake when the referee gave a foul against Leandro Trossard for a handball, though it clearly wasn’t.

The ball struck the forward in the arm, but it was hit at him from close range and his body wasn’t enlarged by moving his hand.

It left Arteta furious, raging up and down in his technical area as his side’s recovery was halted by the match official.

Riccardo Calafiori features in striker role

Riccardo Calafiori started at left-back, but his role changed a fair bit through the first half as he continued to pop up in promising attacking positions.

At times, the Italian international was being used like a striker, finding spots to arrive and create some chances.

One such chance saw him hit the post, but his booking and defensive troubles saw him withdrawn during the break.

Andy Madley makes restart delay booking

Arsenal fans have been frustrated this season by the decision to send off players for delaying the restart, which hasn’t happened to other clubs.

Supporters have highlighted plenty of instances where it has gone unpunished, but it was in full effect on Wednesday.

Just a few minutes into the game, Nikola Milenkovic was in the book for delaying the restart from a free-kick as Arsenal looked to play out quickly.

Arsenal formation change

While Arteta is often leaning on a 4-3-3 in and out of possession at Arsenal, he opted to tweak it ever so slightly this time out.

A 4-2-3-1 was seemingly in operation, with Declan Rice and Jorginho operating at the base of midfield for most of it, while Martin Odegaard was the number ten.

Arsenal stars argue over Nottingham Forest draw

After the game, the Arsenal players were understandably frustrated and deflated when approaching the visiting supporters.

Leaving that area, both Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice could be spotted having a rather animated argument when walking away.

The pair were discussing something relating to the game, though it wasn’t clear exactly what it was over in the end.

They will have to pick themselves up to go again next time out.
