Forget Leandro Trossard, Arsenal fans think another player is the real reason why they just beat West Ham

Leandro Trossard may have just handed Arsenal the Premier League title.

The Gunners were made to work hard by West Ham United, who were arguably the better side for large parts of the game.

However, in the 83rd minute of the game, Trossard’s right-footed shot from inside the box found the back of the net, and that was enough to secure all three points.

The Belgian deserves all the praise in the world for coming up with the clutch goal, while David Raya is worthy of praise for saving Arsenal just a few moments earlier.

However, Arsenal fans think the real hero of the game was someone else – Martin Odegaard!

Odegaard started the game against West Ham on the Arsenal bench.

Eberechi Eze was preferred in the attacking midfield role, but the Englishman, like many of the starters, didn’t have a great game.

Odegaard was brought on for the final 23 minutes of normal time, and the Arsenal captain injected the creativity his side had lacked.

After a few great moves, the former Real Madrid man set up Leandro Trossard inside the box, and he calmly slotted the ball home.

Arsenal fans were blown away by Odegaard’s performance and hailed him on social media.

One supporter tweeted: “Odegaard has got some deserved criticism this season. But man, that’s my captain, stepped up huge there.”

Another wrote: “Odegaard, this cameo will never be forgotten.”

“Odegaard is the difference,” said another.

Another Arsenal fan posted: “Captain’s performance the way Odegaard stepped up here.”

“Odegaard disrespected all season because he hasn’t been fully fit, by the way. This is why he’s the captain. Leader,” tweeted another.

Martin Odegaard needs to start more games

Odegaard has had a torrid season due to injuries.

The Norwegian is Arsenal’s chief creator, and when he is not on the pitch, the Gunners’ struggle to break teams open.

It is clear that he is still not fully fit, but Mikel Arteta seems to be managing his load well, and that is working well so far.

We hope that will be the case going forward, as if Odegaard is on the pitch at his best, Arsenal’s chances of success will improve massively.
