Gabriel Jesus maintained his newfound fine form as Arsenal took on Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Having netted a hat-trick for Arsenal against Crystal Palace in an EFL Cup quarter-final victory on Wednesday, Gabriel Jesus returned to haunt the South London club again on Saturday.
Arsenal fans wanted Jesus to start this Premier League match after his midweek exploits, and they got their wish as the Brazilian striker was included in the starting XI.
Mikel Arteta will have been desperate for Jesus to kick on from his recent hat-trick heroics, and it took the 27-year-old just five minutes to make an impact on this game, as he fired the Gunners ahead after latching onto a loose ball in the box.
After Ismaila Sarr levelled things up for the Eagles, Jesus put the North Londoners ahead again with a precise finish from the edge of the area.

Arsenal fans fear Gabriel Jesus form will impact striker search
Prior to his recent flurry of goals this week, Jesus had found the back of the net just once since January, across all competitions.
Partially due to the former Manchester City man’s extended drought, Arsenal were told that they need to sign a striker in the upcoming January transfer window.
Supporters of the club on X are now concerned that Jesus’ dramatic return to form will deter Arteta from that transfer plan.
One said: “Gabriel Jesus doesn’t want us to sign a Striker in January. If this form stops after January Transfer window walahi I will curse him.”
Another stated: “Gabriel Jesus scoring at will in 2 games only means that Arsenal are not going for a Centre Forward in the winter transfer window.”
One Arsenal supporter claimed: “Gabriel Jesus is back scoring goals that means Arsenal won’t sign a striker in January transfer window.”
A fan added: “Jesus balling out right before the January transfer window where we may buy a striker/forward.”
Another chipped in with: “Arteta, please don’t listen to Gabriel Jesus. We must sign a striker in January.”
One offered: “Jesus heard the transfer rumors and he has 5 goals in 105 minutes lol.”
Do Arsenal still need to sign a striker in January transfer window?
Whilst Jesus’ current form is clearly a positive thing, Arteta cannot afford to gamble on the forward being able to maintain his strike rate or fitness.
Signing a striker this winter is still a must for the Gunners, as the Spanish coach still needs more options to call upon in the final third.
Viktor Gyokeres would be the perfect addition to this Arsenal squad, and should be the manager’s top target this winter.
However, Jesus has now positioned himself to seriously compete with any new recruit for the right to be the first choice to lead the line for the Gunners, and that could not have been said just a week ago.
