Gabriel Magalhaes is now surely going to break one incredible Arsenal record after what he did vs Bournemouth

Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhaes had an eventful game against Bournemouth.

The Brazil international is arguably the best centre-back in the world right now, and he has been immense for the Gunners for several years.

However, Gabriel made a very uncharacteristic mistake against the Cherries that gifted Evanilson the opener. Many defenders would’ve crumbled after such an error, but it took the Arsenal number six just six minutes to redeem himself with a fine strike.

With that goal, Gabriel is closing in on an Arsenal record.

Gabriel Magalhaes is on track to break Laurent Koscielny’s Arsenal record

Gabriel Magalhaes has been incredible for Arsenal since he joined the club.

The North Londoners signed the Brazilian from Lille in the summer of 2020, and he scored a goal on his debut against Fulham.

Since then, Gabriel has netted 20 times in the Premier League, more than any other defender in the division in that period.

The latest of those 20 goals came against Bournemouth on Saturday, and the 28-year-old is now in touching distance of Laurent Koscielny’s record.

The Frenchman is Arsenal’s highest-scoring defender in the history of the Premier League, having found the net 22 times in 255 games.

Gabriel has reached 20 in just 175 league appearances, and we are absolutely convinced that he will get past Koscielny’s record before the end of this season.

That would be a remarkable achievement.

Who is the highest-scoring defender in Premier League history, and can Gabriel Magalhaes break that record?

20 goals for a central defender is an incredible return, and that number will definitely go up.

Gabriel is the biggest set-piece threat in world football at the moment, and as long as Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka continue delivering good balls into the box, the Brazilian defender will score.

It is very clear that Gabriel will break Koscielny’s record to become Arsenal’s highest-scoring defender, but how far away is he from taking the Premier League crown?

That record is held by John Terry, who scored 41 goals for Chelsea in 492 games.

Gabriel hasn’t even played half as many games as the Blues legend, but he has nearly scored half as many goals already. If he makes another 175 appearances for the Gunners, we think he will break Terry’s record.
